An All-New World Filled with All-New Pokémon
Pokémon White Version features the same handheld RPG and Adventure gameplay that has consistently thrilled Nintendo DS players, both young and more experienced, but it also introduces players to an all-new Unova region. Brought to life with improved graphics, Unova is a mix of urban and natural landscapes in which players are just as likely to encounter skyscrapers and bridges, as they are to walk alongside mountains and seascapes. It is of course also filled with a potent blend of all-new Pokémon, including the Legendary Vast White Pokémon Reshiram and the Deep Black Pokémon Zekrom. Stepping into the role of either a male or female Trainer, players further have their choice of their first Pokémon, who will serve as the first of many Pokémon companions in their travels through Unova, as they attempt to capture every wild Pokémon variety available and test their skills against other Trainers in turn-based battles.
Experience Legendary Pokémon
Both of the Legendary Pokémon Reshiram and Zekrom appear in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, but each can only be caught in their respective versions. The Legendary Pokémon Reshiram appears on the cover of Pokémon Black Version Version and the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom is seen on the cover of Pokémon White Version Version. See their types, abilities and profiles below.

It’s pokemon, so I’m happy that I’m able to play it, but you do notice the downgrade when you have been playing current games like Pokemon X and Y or Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This game doesn’t compare to those in graphics.

This game is really amazing, it’s one of the first games for generation 5 for Pokemon other than it’s counterpart Pokemon White. You start off in Nuvema town just as you’re about to go off on a journey with your friends Bianca, & Cheren. You first get to pick your Pokemon, you get to chose between Tepig, Snivy, & Oshawott. As usual in the Pokemon RPG’s you’re asked by a Professor, in this case Professor Juniper, to go across that specific region & see all kinds of Pokemon to fill up the Pokedex for their research. Along the way you have to battle the evil Team Plasma, as well as go up against N on several occasions. While doing all these things, you also need to work on getting your gym badges. It’s not much different then most of the other Pokemon games, but it is really one of my personal favorites, & I think any Pokemon fan whether it’s the games, manga, or anime that you love, if you like Pokemon I think you should give this game a try.

"like new?" pffftt…

I’ve always wondered why Nintendo didn’t devote more resources to what is possibly their biggest cash cow. Sure they have the movies and dolls and television shows and peripheral games but the main series is only in its 5th generation after over twelve years and this is the first new generation of Pokemon in the past five years. So what is the reward for fans after such a lengthy wait? There are 156 brand new Pokemon which is cool on one hand but what bothered me was that there is no tie to previous generations. When generation 4 came out many of the new Pokemon were higher evolved forms of previous generation Pokemon and in a few cases lesser evolved forms. This is not the case with generation 5 as none of the new Pokemon share an evolutionary chain with previous generations. There is also no previous generation Pokemon to be caught during the main portion of the game. It’s like Nintendo decided to wipe the slate clean. Maybe it’s not such a bad idea since a twelve year old who bought the 4th generation game in 2006 would be starting to think about college at this point. Still, breaking the evolutionary links between prior generations was not a decision I liked.

I enjoyed Pokemon White. It was a significant upgrade over Diamond and Pearl in terms of in-game visuals, although as always the gameplay itself stayed the same. A much better game from a mechanical standpoint, although the creativity in terms of storyline and new characters is very painfully lacking.
