Weight Workout Weight Loss Plan

The Best Busy Woman's Free Weight Workout Routine

When going to the gym, sometimes using the elliptical or treadmill just does not cut it. If you are a student with little work out time to devote or just a busy person in general, a quick and easy free weight routine is key. As a law student, I have little time to really worry about sets, counting, and intricate routines. Instead I combine a simple marine workout along with what I call the "Alphabet challenge." This combination followed by an easy cool down is the best easy free weight routine to add to any workout.

The Simple Marine Sets:

The best way to start your free Weight Workout is to use a weight amount you are comfortable with. I usually use 8lb. or 10lb. weights. First start with standing, feet shoulder length apart. Hold your desired weight in each hand extended in front of you palms up. With your arms parallel to the ground in starting position curl your arms to your shoulder and pull back to starting position of your arms parallel to the ground. Do not let your arms drop. Do repetitions in sets of ten.

After finishing the starting repetitions allow your arms to drop to your sides. This time his is your starting position. Curl yours arms from at your side to parallel to the ground (your original starting position). Again do this repetition in sets of 10.

Finally, allow your arms to fall at your sides. Now do a full curl from yours sides to your shoulders. This is a full curl.

Alphabet Challenge:

Now that you have finished your marine routine. Lay down on the ground and hold your right arms in the air with your weight. In the air draw the entire alphabet. Switch arms and repeat.

Finally use the right arm to trace the alphabet in the air forwards and backwards before allowing your arm to drop. Repeat with your left arm.

Cool Down Weight Routine:

Now if your gym has a track this cool down works best. Take the lightest weights you have been using. Walk briskly for either one half mile or a mile, depending on how much time you can allot yourself. As you walk pump your arms, curling the weights.

This routine is a wonderful addition to any workout. It tones your arms and allows your mind to trail away without focusing on counting too much. Happy workout!
