This thing works and it works well. It made a compete transformation to the sound of a Pearl Export snare, making it fatter, deeper whilst at the same time muffling ring. The difference it makes to the sound is very discernible – you will notice it. My only gripe is the cost which I feel is excessive for what it is (basically a solid and thicker version of an O Ring encased in a rubber grommet) but I guess there is R&D and marketing costs to recover in brining this thing to market. I tried it on a 14″ Floor Tom and it had a real impact on the sound from that too. If the price does come down then I will definitely be buying a second one for this use.

I have been hungry for a deep snare sound without sounding “flabby” for some time now. I tried various batter heads and tunings on 3 different snare drums; Ludwig, Pearl, and lastly a Yamaha 6.5 x 14. Came to the conclusion that what I wanted was nonexistent. Then I read about the BFSD, listened to it on You Tube (Kai) and figured the price tag was worth the risk.

One Happy Dude.

HOLY COW! I love this more than I could’ve have ever imagined. I typically care two snares on most live gigs; My Ludwig Black Beauty and an old Pork Pie Big Squealer. One for normal tones, one for fat beefy tones. With this product I now only care one snare. Tune it up to your liking, throw the BFSD on and here comes the THUNDER. I still prefer a great snare tuned down, but unless your sitting behind the kit in studio, you’d never know. Now everywhere I play every drumhead in the audience bugs me about my “Magic” little device. Great product, now it’s time to buy the 13″!

I’ve had this thing for one day and I can already tell I’m going to love it. I play a ton of cover gigs with my band and we do everything from reggae to hip hop to 90s alternative rock. My preferred snare tuning is very tight, which works well for the reggae & some of the hip hop songs. However when playing Alternative Rock I’ve been having to change snares between songs, which is a total pain.

Great product. You can get similar “sound” results from just cutting out a circle from another (used/new) drumhead, but there’s more to this, design-wise, that I appreciate quite a bit.

Big deep sound

Works as described. This has a big bottom sound so the bottom head has major vibration. You may need tighten the bottom head more or increase tension on springs. I have a brass snare and as long as I hit the middle of the head it sounds great. I have huge after tones hitting any where else on the head due to the extra vibration. As for the item itself you get big deep sound.

Just didn’t like it, like I though I would.

Leaving 4 stars, as this was a test and try, but I dislike it. If I had the original packing I’d ship back, but was just in a plastic sleeve, so I know most won’t allow a return. This gave my snare an awful buzz and vibration from the bottom. Put my moongel back on and it’s gone. I’ll be using this as a dampen on toms during rehearsal and that’s about all.

I like this a lot it can definitely give the snare a unique sound. But I like it on my bass drum. With it on the bass drum batter side it takes out the sustain and give it a quick ending punch and changes the play of the beaters. The beaters still have a good rebound it just feels a little more cushy it seams like. Like it alot
